FAQlove 3D- Optical art from packing tape
3D portrait with optical effects. Installation of package tape strips on five Plexiglass panels
Work made from transparent packing tape: images built up in layers that only come alive in light.
Packing tape is layered rather than mixed. Each additional layer darkens the surface slightly, which builds tonal range without any paint. Because the material stays translucent, the image changes with the light behind it — on glass, windows and back-lit panels that is the whole point.
The opaque counterpart is duct tape art. Technical questions are covered in the tape art FAQ, and client projects appear under commissioned art.
